Gundaroo’s War History Exhibition
As part of the ANZAC Centenary the Gundaroo & District Historical Society and the Gundaroo Community Association Memorial Committee are commemorating those from the Gundaroo district who served in wartime by showcasing the village’s war history in a weekend exhibition linked with its annual Anzac Day ceremony.
The event starts with a dawn service at 5.00 am on Saturday 25 April at the War Memorial on the corner of Cork and Harp Streets. This will be followed by a breakfast BBQ at the Gundaroo Soldiers’ Memorial Hall where an exhibition of photos, records and artefacts reflecting the role of Gundaroo and its residents in various wars will be displayed. The exhibition will be open between 7.00 am and 4.00 pm on Saturday the 25th April and between 10 am and 4 pm on Sunday 26th April.
Come and make a day of it in this small historic village located just 30 minutes from Canberra and enjoy the food and shopping Gundaroo has on offer. Take a walk and see some of the village’s 19th century buildings and monuments, finishing with a cold drink and a game of two-up at the Gundaroo Colonial Inn.
Sounds like a great exhibition. See you there?
